When the dispute arose between Abdullah bin Amr and Anbasah bin Abu Sufyan, both sides prepared themselves for battle. Khalid bin al-As rode out to Abdullah bin Amr and admonished him.Abdullah bin Amr replied, "Do you not know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Whoever is killed defending his property is a martyr'?"
إنه لما كان بين عبد الله بن عمرو وبين عنبسة بن أبي سفيان ما كان تيسروا للقتال، فركب خالد بن العاص إلى عبد الله بن عمرو، فوعظه خالد، فقال عبد الله بن عمرو: أما علمت أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: من قتل دون ماله فهو شهيد.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Faith (141) from the hadith of Abdul-Razzaq, who said, Ibn Jurayj informed us, who said, Sulayman al-Ahwal informed me that Thabit, the freed slave of Umar bin Abdul-Rahman, said... and he mentioned it, and the wording given here is his.Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Injustices (2480) through another route from Ikrima, from Abdullah bin Amr, who mentioned the hadith without mentioning the story.
