A beautiful slave girl fell to Dihya's share of the spoils, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ purchased her from him for seven heads of captives. He then handed her over to Umm Sulaym to prepare her and make her ready.The narrator said, I think he also said, "And to observe her waiting period in her house." She was Safiya bint Huyayy.
وقعت في سهم دحية جارية جميلة، فاشتراها رسول الله ﷺ بسبعة أرؤس، ثم دفعها إلى أم سليم تصنعها، وتهيئها. قال: وأحسبه قال: وتعتد في بيتها، وهى صفية بنت حيي.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Marriage (1365: 87) from Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba, who said, Affan told us, Hammad bin Salama told us, Thabit told us, from Anas, and he related it.Imam Ahmad narrated it (13575) from Affan, at greater length than this.Abu Dawud (2997), Ibn Majah (2272), and Bayhaqi (6/304) all narrated it through various chains from Hammad bin Salama, in a shortened form, concerning the purchase of Safiyya for seven heads.
