The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "None of you should sell over the sale of another, and do not intercept goods before they reach the market."
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: لا يبيع بعضكم على بيع بعض، ولا تلقوا السلع حتى يهبط بها إلى السوق.
Bukhari (2165) narrated it from Abdullah bin Yusuf, who said, Malik informed us, from Nafi, from Abdullah bin Umar, and he related it as mentioned. Muslim also narrated it in the Book of Sales (1517), by way of Ubaydullah, from Nafi, with this wording, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade meeting goods before they reach the markets.A note of caution, this hadith appears in Muwatta Malik, in the narration of Yahya Laythi, as mentioned earlier in the chapter on the prohibition of a man outbidding his brother's sale, with the wording of only the first part, and it does not contain his saying, "and do not meet goods..." and so on. That addition occurs only in some of the narrations from Malik, as in this narration of Abdullah bin Yusuf found in Bukhari.Hafiz bin Abdul-Barr said in Tamhid (13/316), "This addition is sahih, coming from Ibn Wahb, Qanabi, Abdullah bin Yusuf, and Sulayman bin Burd, from Malik, and it is not found in others, and it is sahih."
