The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade the price of a dog, the earnings of a prostitute, and the payment given to a fortune-teller.
أن رسول الله ﷺ نهي عن ثمن الكلب، ومهر البغي، وحلوان الكاهن.
Malik narrated it in "Sales" (68), from Ibn Shihab, from Abu Bakr bin Abdul-Rahman bin Harith bin Hisham, from Abu Masud Ansari, who related it. Bukhari narrated it in "Sales" (2237), and Muslim in "Musaqah" (1567:39), both of them by way of Malik, with the same wording. His saying, "the soothsayer's fee," refers to what a fortuneteller takes for his soothsaying. This is forbidden, and the practice itself is invalid.
