The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah has forbidden you wine, gambling, and the drum." He also said, "Every intoxicant is forbidden."
عن رسول الله ﷺ قال: إن الله حرم عليكم الخمرة، والميسرة، والكوبة. وقال: كل مسكر حرام.
Imam Ahmad (2625), Tahawi in his Sharh (4/216), and Bayhaqi (10/221) all narrated it through the hadith of Abdullah bin Amr, from Abdul-Kareem, from Qays bin Hibtar, from Ibn Abbas, as mentioned. Its isnad is sahih, and Abdul-Kareem is Ibn Malik Jazari. Qays bin Hibtar is pronounced on the pattern of Jafar, and he is the Tamimi, the Kufan, one of the men found in Tahdheeb. As for "kubah," it means dice. It has also been said to mean the drum, and it has also been said to mean the barbat (a type of lute). This is as stated in Nihayah.
