and Abu Saeed and Jabir, two of these three, that the Prophet ﷺ forbade currency exchange.
وأبي سعيد، وجابر- اثنين من هؤلاء الثلاثة- أن النبي ﷺ نهي عن الصرف.
Ahmad (9638) narrated it from Yahya, from Ashath, from Muhammad, from Abu Salih Zakwan, from these men, and they related the hadith. Its isnad is sahih. Muhammad here is Ibn Sirin, and Ashath is Ibn Abdul-Malik Hamrani. His statement, "the exchange was forbidden," means either a deferred exchange or an exchange with an excess between two items of the same kind.
