Abu Saeed Khudri reported a similar hadith from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Abdullah bin Umar met him and asked, "Abu Saeed, what is this you are narrating from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"Abu Saeed replied, "Concerning currency exchange? I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Gold for gold, like for like, and silver for silver, like for like.'"
أن أبا سعيد الخدري حدثه مثل ذلك حديثا عن رسول الله ﷺ، فلقيه عبد الله بن عمر، فقال: يا أبا سعيد، ما هذا الذي تحدث عن رسول الله ﷺ؟ فقال أبو سعيد: في الصرف؟ سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: الذهب بالذهب مثلا بمثل، والورق بالورق مثلا بمثل.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Business Transactions (2176), from Ubaydullah bin Saeed, who said, my uncle narrated to us, who said, the nephew of Zuhri narrated to us, from his uncle, who said, Salim bin Abdullah narrated to me, from Abdullah bin Umar, and he related it.
