Malik bin Aws bin Hadathan reported,

He sought to exchange one hundred dinars. He said, Talha bin Ubayd Allah called me over, and we negotiated until he agreed to make the exchange with me. He took the gold and began turning it over in his hand, then said, "Wait until my treasurer comes from the Ghabah."Umar bin Khattab was listening, and he said, "By Allah, do not part from him until you take it from him."Then he said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Gold for silver is usury unless exchanged hand to hand, wheat for wheat is usury unless exchanged hand to hand, dates for dates is usury unless exchanged hand to hand, and barley for barley is usury unless exchanged hand to hand."
