I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "The Muslim is the brother of the Muslim. It is not lawful for a Muslim to sell his brother something containing a defect without disclosing it to him."
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: المسلم أخو المسلم، ولا يحل لمسلم باع من أخيه بيعا فيه عيب إلا بينه له.
Ibn Majah (2246) narrated it from Muhammad bin Bashshar, who said, Wahb bin Jareer narrated to us, who said, my father narrated to me, who said, I heard Yahya bin Ayub narrating from Yazid bin Abu Habib, from Abdul-Rahman bin Sahammasa, from Uqba bin Amir, and he mentioned it.In its chain is Yahya bin Ayub, who is Ghafiqi, a narrator disputed over, though his hadith is hasan. Hakim (2/8) and Bayhaqi (5/320) narrated it through his route.Ibn Lahia corroborated him, and through his route Ahmad (17451) narrated it from him, from Yazid bin Habib, with his chain, and its wording is, "A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim. It is not permissible for a Muslim man to conceal a defect in goods from his brother, if he knew of it he would leave it."There is well-known discussion regarding Ibn Lahia, but he has been corroborated.
