Imam Ahmad (6/67) reported it, saying, Abdullah bin Walid told us, Sufyan told us, from Usama, from Abdullah bin Urwa, from Urwa, from Ayesha, and he mentioned the hadith. Its chain is hasan because of Usama, who is Ibn Zayd Al-Laythi, their freedman, about whom there is disagreement. Nasai said, He is not strong. Abu Hatim said, His hadith is recorded. Ajli deemed him reliable. Ibn Hibban said, He makes mistakes, but his affairs are sound and his book is sahih.I say, someone like this has his hadith graded hasan. Ibn Hibban related it through his route in his Sahih (2163). Hafiz said, "Truthful but given to error." Perhaps one of his errors is that he sometimes made his teacher Abdullah bin Urwa, as here, and other times Uthman bin Urwa, as with Ibn Khuzayma (1550), Abd bin Humayd in "Muntakhab" (1513), and Hakim (1/204), who said, "Sahih according to the criterion of Muslim." However, both chains are sahih.Ibn Majah (995) related it by another route, from Hisham bin Urwa, but the narrator from him is Ismail bin Ayyash, who is daif regarding narrators other than the people of Syria. Further discussion of this will come in the Book of Prayer.On this subject there is also a report from Abdullah bin Zayd, related by Tabarani in Al-Awsat (5063), which contains Musa bin Ubayda, who is daif. There is also a report from Abu Hurairah, related by Tabarani in Al-Awsat (3783), which contains Ghanim bin Ahwas, about whom Daraqutni said, He is not strong. See Majma al-Zawaid (2/91).
