The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever plants a crop and then a bird or any creature seeking sustenance eats from it, it counts as charity for him."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: من زرع زرعا، فأكل منه الطير أو العافية كان له به صدقة.
Imam Ahmad narrated it (16558) from Waki, who said, Usama bin Zayd told us, from Muttalib bin Abdullah bin Hantab, from Khallad bin Saaib, from his father, and he related it.Its chain is hasan because of Usama bin Zayd, who is al-Laythi, since his hadith is hasan.Tabarani also narrated it in al-Kabir (4134) through Salm bin Junada, from Waki with his chain, except that he did not mention in it "from his father."Perhaps that goes back to Salm bin Junada Abu Saaib al-Kufi, about whom Abu Ahmad Hakim said, "He contradicts in some of his hadith." And this is one of them.His statement, "al-aafiyah," refers to everyone seeking provision.
