I came to Safwan bin Assal al-Muradi, and he asked, "What brought you here?"I replied, "The pursuit of knowledge."He said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'No one leaves his home seeking knowledge but the angels lower their wings in approval of what he is doing.'"
أتيت صفوان بن عسال المرادي فقال: ما جاء بك؟ فقلت: ابتغاء العلم. قال: فإني سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: ما من خارج خرج من بيته في طلب العلم إلا وضعت الملائكة أجنحتها رضا بما يصنع.
Ibn Majah (226) narrated it from Muhammad bin Yahya, who said, Abdul-Razzaq narrated to us, who said, Mamar informed us, from Asim bin Abu Najud, from Zirr bin Hubaysh, and he mentioned it.The hadith is found in Musannaf Abdul-Razzaq (793), and from him Ahmad (18093) narrated it. Ibn Khuzayma (193) and Ibn Hibban (1319) graded it sahih, and both narrated it through this route within a lengthy hadith. Its chain is hasan on account of Asim bin Abu Najud, for he is "truthful."Tirmidhi (3535, 3536) and Nasai (126, 127) narrated it through another route from Asim.
