Zayd bin Khalid Juhani reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about a slave-woman who commits adultery while not being in a state of marriage. He said, "If she commits adultery, flog her. Then if she commits adultery again, flog her. Then if she commits adultery again, flog her. Then sell her, even for a rope of hair."Ibn Shihab Zuhri said, "I do not know whether it was after the third or the fourth time."
Malik narrated it in "Hudud" (14) from Ibn Shihab, from Ubaydullah bin Utbah bin Masud, from Abu Hurairah and Zayd bin Khalid Juhani, who both mentioned it. Bukhari narrated it in "Buyu" (1154), and Muslim in "Hudud" (1704), both by way of Malik with the same wording. Further detail will follow in the Book of Hudud.
