The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed Umrah and we performed it with him. When he entered Makkah, he made the circuit and we made it with him, then he went to Safa and Marwa and we went there with him. We were shielding him from the people of Makkah lest anyone should pelt him.A companion of mine asked him, "Did he enter the Kaabah?"He replied, "No."
اعتمر رسول الله ﷺ واعتمرنا معه، فلما دخل مكة طاف وطفنا معه، وأتى الصفا والمروة، وأتيناها معه، وكنا نستره من أهل مكة أن يرميه أحد. فقال له صاحب لي: أكان دخل الكعبة؟ قال: لا.
Bukhari narrated it in the chapter on Hajj (1791), from Ishaq bin Ibrahim, from Jareer, from Ismail bin Abu Khalid, from Abdullah bin Abu Awfa, and he related it. He also narrated it in other places, including (1600) from Khalid bin Abdullah, and (4188) from Yaala bin Ubayd Tanafisi, and (4255) from Sufyan, all of them from Ismail bin Abu Khalid.Muslim narrated it in the chapter on Hajj (1332) from the hadith of Hushaym, who said, Ismail bin Abu Khalid informed us, and he mentioned in it only what relates to the question about entering the Kaaba.Abu Dawud narrated it through two paths (1902, 1903) from the hadith of Khalid bin Abdullah and Sharik, both of them from Ismail bin Abu Khalid, except that Sharik added in it, "Then he shaved his head." I have not come across this addition in the narrations related by the authors of the two Sahihs. Sharik is Ibn Abdullah the judge, and he had weak memory.This Umrah is the Umrah of Qadaa, and the Prophet ﷺ did not enter the Kaaba during this Umrah. He only entered it on the day of the conquest, in order to purify the sacred House of Allah from the idols and false gods of the pre-Islamic era. As for the Farewell Hajj, the sahih view is that he did not enter it then either, contrary to what Munziri mentioned, that he entered the House during his Hajj.
