He said, "Messenger of Allah, my father is a very old man who cannot perform Hajj, nor Umra, nor travel. What should I do?"He replied, "Perform Hajj and Umra on behalf of your father."
- أنه قال: يا رسول الله، إن أبي شيخ كبير لا يستطيع الحج ولا العمرة ولا الظعن؟ قال: احجج عن أبيك واعتمر.
Abu Dawud (1810), Tirmidhi (930), Nasai (2621), and Ibn Majah (2906) all narrated it from Shubah, from Numan bin Salim, from Amr bin Aws, from Abu Razeen, as mentioned.From this same route, Imam Ahmad (16184), Ibn Khuzayma (3040), Ibn Hibban (3991), Hakim (1/481), and Bayhaqi (4/350) also narrated it. Hakim said, "Sahih according to the standard of the two Shaykhs." And Imam Ahmad said, "I do not know of a hadith establishing the obligation of Umrah more sahih than this one."
