The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "All of Arafah is a place of standing, all of Mina is a place of sacrifice, all of Muzdalifa is a place of standing, and all the mountain passes of Makkah are pathways and places of sacrifice."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: كل عرفة موقف، وكل منى منحر، وكل المزدلفة موقف، وكل فجاج مكة طريق ومنحر.
It was narrated by Abu Dawud (1937) and Ibn Majah (3048), both from the hadith of Usama bin Zayd, from Ata, from Jabir, as mentioned. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih (2787). It contains Usama bin Zayd, concerning whom there is disagreement, though his hadith is hasan. Hafiz Ibn Abdul-Hadi graded its chain hasan in Tanqih Tahqiq (3/556). As for the fact that Jabir did not mention this portion in the long hadith describing the manner of the Prophet's ﷺ Hajj, which Muslim and others transmitted, this does not make it shazz, because it is possible that Jabir narrated it at different times with different portions, so some narrators added things that others did not, as happens in the Sahih collections and elsewhere. On this subject there is also what was narrated from Abu Hurairah, who said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "All of Mina is a place of sacrifice, and all the mountain passes of Makkah are places of sacrifice." This was narrated by Abdul-Razzaq, who said, Mamar informed us, from Muhammad bin Munkadir, from Abu Hurairah, as mentioned. Ibn Abdul-Barr mentioned it in Istidhkar (13/10), but I did not find it in Musaf Abdul-Razzaq, so look into it further. Its chain is disconnected, for Muhammad bin Munkadir did not hear from Abu Hurairah, as Ibn Main and Abu Zura stated. Bayhaqi (5/115) narrated it from the hadith of Abdul-Wahhab bin Ata, who said Ibn Jurayj said, Muhammad bin Munkadir informed me that the Prophet ﷺ said (as mentioned), and this is mursal. On this subject there is also what was narrated from Jubayr bin Mutim, from the Prophet ﷺ, who said, "Every mountain pass of Mina is a place of sacrifice, and every day of the Tashriq is a day of slaughter." This was narrated by Imam Ahmad (16752) and Bayhaqi (5/239), both from the hadith of Abu Mughira, who said, Saeed bin Abdul-Aziz narrated to us, who said, Sulayman bin Musa narrated to me, from Jubayr bin Mutim, from the Prophet ﷺ, as mentioned. Sulayman bin Musa is al-Ashdaq, who did not meet Jubayr bin Mutim. Bayhaqi also narrated with a sahih chain from Ibn Abbas that he used to sacrifice in Makkah. The scholars have agreed that the place of sacrifice for Hajj is Mina, just as they agreed that the place of sacrifice for someone performing Umrah who has driven a sacrificial animal is Makkah. They disagreed on matters beyond this. The majority held that sacrifice during Hajj is permissible anywhere within the sacred precinct. Malik said, the pilgrim performing Hajj may not sacrifice except at Mina, and the one performing Umrah except at Makkah. As for his statement, "Every day of the Tashriq is a day of slaughter," the scholars differed regarding it. Shafii held that the hadith of Jubayr bin Mutim should be acted upon, while Malik, Abu Hanifa, and Ahmad held that this is specific to the day of sacrifice only and the two days following it. This is the view of the majority of the companions and the successors. Malik narrated in his Muwatta from Ibn Umar, who said, the Adha (sacrifice period) is two days after the day of Adha. Malik said that it had reached him that the same was reported from Ali bin Abu Talib. Nawawi related that this was also reported from Umar bin Khattab.I say, their evidence is set out at length in the books of jurisprudence. As for the hadith, it is not established. It was also narrated from Abu Hurairah, as a raised report, "The days of Tashriq are all days of slaughter." Bayhaqi narrated it (9/295) and said, it contains Muawiya bin Yahya Sadafi, who is daif and cannot be relied upon. Then Bayhaqi said in Marifa (14/64), since it is not established, then the correct analogy is what Shafii stated. For more, see Minna Kubra (4/500–501).
