We used to take provisions of the sacrificial meat with us back to Medina during the time of the Prophet ﷺ.
كنا نتزود لحوم الأضاحي على عهد النبي ﷺ إلى المدينة.
Bukhari narrated it in jihad and expeditions (2980), and Muslim in sacrifices (1972/32), both through Sufyan bin Uyayna, from Amr (that is, Ibn Dinar), Ataa (that is, Ibn Abu Rabah) told me, he heard Jabir bin Abdullah, and so he related it.Bukhari also narrated it in Hajj (1719), and Muslim in sacrifices (1972/30), both through Ibn Jurayj, Ataa told us, he said, "I heard Jabir bin Abdullah say, 'We did not eat from the meat of our sacrificial camels beyond three days at Mina, but the Prophet ﷺ permitted us, saying, "Eat and take provisions."'"I said to Ataa, "Did Jabir say, 'until we came to Madinah'?" He said, "Yes." This is the wording of Muslim, while in Bukhari's wording he said, "No."The affirming report takes precedence over the denying one, and this is supported by the narration of Amr bin Dinar from Ataa, as well as by the narration of Abu Zubayr from Jabir, as reported by Imam Ahmad (14509), and graded sahih by Ibn Hibban (5930), through Husayn bin Waqid, from Abu Zubayr, from Jabir, who said, "We ate the dried meat with the Prophet of Allah ﷺ all the way to Madinah."Its chain is hasan because of Husayn bin Waqid, for he is a narrator whose hadith is hasan.
