Amra bint Abdul-Rahman reported,

Ziyad bin Abu Sufyan wrote to Ayesha, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, saying that Abdullah bin Abbas had stated, "Whoever sends a sacrificial animal is bound by the same restrictions as a pilgrim until the animal is slaughtered. I have sent my sacrificial animal, so write to me with your instructions, or instruct the one in charge of the animal."Amra reported that Ayesha said, "It is not as Ibn Abbas has said. I myself twisted the garlands for the sacrificial animals of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with my own hands. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ placed the garlands on them with his own hand and sent them with Ubayy. Yet nothing that Allah had made lawful for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ became forbidden to him until the sacrificial animal was slaughtered."
