He heard the Prophet ﷺ say, "There were three men among the Children of Israil: a leper, a bald man, and a blind man. Allah willed to test them, so He sent an angel to them. The angel came to the leper and said..." He then mentioned the hadith in its full length.
أنه سمع النبي ﷺ يقول: إن ثلاثة في بني إسرائيل: أبرص وأقرع وأعمى بدا الله أن يبتليهم، فبعث إليهم ملكا، فأتى الأبرص فقال (فذكر الحديث بطوله).
Bukhari narrated it in the Chapters on the Prophets (3464), and Muslim in the Book of Asceticism and Softening of Hearts (2964), both from the hadith of Hammam, who said, "Ishaq bin Abdullah narrated to us, saying, Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Amra narrated to me, that Abu Hurairah narrated to them," and then he mentioned the hadith in full.
