I asked Anas bin Malik, "Tell me something you remember about the Prophet ﷺ. Where did he pray Zuhr on the Day of Tarwiyah?"He replied, "At Mina."I asked, "And where did he pray Asr on the day of departure?"He answered, "At al-Abtah. Do as your leaders do."
سألت أنس بن مالك: أخبرني بشيء عقلته عن النبي ﷺ: أين صلى الظهر يوم التروية؟ قال: بمنى. قلت: فأين صلى العصر يوم النفر؟ قال: بالأبطح، افعل كما يفعل أمراؤك.
Bukhari reported it in the Book of Hajj (1763), and Muslim in the Book of Hajj (1309), both through the route of Ishaq bin Yusuf Azraq, who said, Sufyan Thawri narrated to us, from Abdul-Aziz bin Rafi, with this chain.Abtah is also called Muhassab. It is a place between Makkah and Mina, closer to Mina. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stayed there because it made his departure easier, as Ayesha said. From there he went to the House for the farewell tawaf, then set out for Madinah.Shafii said, "The Prophet's ﷺ staying at Abtah was not part of the rites of Hajj at all. It was simply a stopping place where the Prophet ﷺ happened to stay."
