The Prophet ﷺ led nineteen military expeditions, and after his migration he performed only one Hajj, which was the Farewell Hajj, with no Hajj after it.Abu Ishaq said, "And another in Mecca."
أن النبي ﷺ غزا تسع عشرة غزوة، وأنه حج بعد ما هاجر حجة واحدة لم يحج بعدها، حجة الوداع. قال أبو إسحاق: وبمكة أخرى.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Military Expeditions (4404), and Muslim in the Book of Hajj (1254), both of them through Zuhayr (that is, Ibn Muawiya Abu Khaythama), who said, our teacher Abu Ishaq (that is, Subayi) narrated to us, saying, Zayd bin Arqam narrated to me, and so on, with the wording being Bukhari's.As for Abu Ishaq's statement, "and another time in Makkah," Hafiz Ibn Hajar said in Fath al-Bari (8/107), "Abu Ishaq's purpose is that his statement 'after he emigrated' implies a corresponding meaning, namely that before he emigrated he had performed Hajj. However, his limiting himself to the word 'another' might give the false impression that he performed Hajj only once before the emigration, which is not the case. Rather, he performed Hajj several times before he emigrated. In fact, what I have no doubt about is that he never once neglected Hajj while he was in Makkah, because the Quraysh in pre-Islamic times never used to neglect Hajj. Only those who were not in Makkah, or who were prevented by some weakness, would fall behind in performing it. If they, while following no true religion, were so keen to establish Hajj and considered it one of the things of pride that distinguished them from the rest of the Arabs, how then could it be imagined of the Prophet ﷺ that he would have neglected it?It has been established in the hadith of Jubayr bin Mutim that he saw him in pre-Islamic times standing at Arafah, and that this was among the ways Allah guided him even then. It has also been established that he called the tribes of the Arabs to Islam at Mina for three consecutive years, as I have explained in the account of the emigration to Madinah."
