The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The angels continue to pray for one of you as long as he remains in the place where he performed his prayer, provided he does not break his ablution. They say, 'Allah, forgive him. Allah, have mercy on him.'"
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: الملائكة تصلي على أحدكم مادام في مصلاه الذي صلى فيه، مالم يحدث، اللهم اغفر له، اللهم ارحمه.
Malik narrated it in "Shortening the Prayer" (51) from Abu Zinad, from Araj, from Abu Hurairah, and he mentioned the hadith.Bukhari narrated it in "The Prayer" (445), and in "The Adhan" (659), from Abdullah bin Yusuf, and Muslim narrated it in "The Mosques" (275/649) from Yahya bin Yahya, both of them from Malik, with the same chain, except that Muslim recorded the wording of the hadith like this, "One of you remains in a state of prayer as long as the prayer is what is keeping him, nothing prevents him from returning to his family except the prayer."The wording found in Malik's version, he attributed it to the hadith of Ibn Wahb, from Yunus, from Ibn Shihab, from Ibn Hurmuz, from Abu Hurairah. Likewise from the hadith of Sufyan, from Ayub Sakhtiyani, from Ibn Sirin. And the hadith of Hammad bin Salama, from Thabit, from Abu Rafi, both of them from Abu Hurairah.Bukhari, may Allah have mercy on him, also brought out the wording of Malik's hadith through other routes.
