The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The best water on the face of the earth is the water of Zamzam. In it is nourishment that satisfies hunger and healing from sickness. The worst water on the face of the earth is the water in the valley of Barahut in Hadramawt. Vermin swarm over it like locusts. In the morning it gushes forth, and by evening not a drop of moisture remains in it."
Tabarani related it in Al-Kabir (11/98), and Fakihi in Akhbar Makkah (2/41), both from the hadith of Hasan bin Ahmad bin Abu Shuayb Harrani, who said, Miskin bin Bukayr narrated to us, who said, Muhammad bin Muhajir narrated to us, from Ibrahim bin Abu Hurrah, from Mujahid, from Ibn Abbas, and he mentioned it.Its chain is hasan due to the discussion surrounding Miskin bin Bukayr and Ibrahim bin Abu Hurrah, except that both of them graded the hadith hasan. Haythami mentioned it in Al-Majma (3/286) and said, "Tabarani related it in Al-Kabir, and its narrators are trustworthy, and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih." This is what he said, "and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih"! But I did not find this hadith in Al-Ihsan fi Tartib Sahih Ibn Hibban, nor did Haythami himself mention it in Mawarid Zaman. So one wonders, did Haythami err in attributing it to Ibn Hibban? Or did he follow Munziri in that, for Munziri also attributed it in Al-Targhib wal-Tarhib (1838) to Ibn Hibban.
