The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The angels do not enter a house in which there is an image."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: إن الملائكة لا تدخل بيتا فيه صورة.
Bukhari related it in the Book of Clothing (5958), and Muslim in the Book of Clothing and Adornment (2106:85), both through Layth bin Saad, from Bukayr bin Ashaj, from Busr bin Saeed, from Zayd bin Khalid, from Abu Talha, and he mentioned it.Busr said, "Zayd later fell ill, so we went to visit him, and there was a curtain on his door with a picture on it. I said to Ubaydullah, the stepson of Maymuna, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, 'Did Zayd not tell us about pictures the other day?' Ubaydullah said, 'Did you not hear him when he said, "Except for a pattern on fabric"?'"Bukhari also related it in the Book of the Beginning of Creation (3225) from Ibn Muqatil, who said, Abdullah informed us, Muammar informed us, from Zuhri, from Ubaydullah bin Abdullah, that he heard Ibn Abbas say, "I heard Abu Talha say, 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "The angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a picture, meaning images."'"
