The Prophet ﷺ said, "The throwing of the pebbles at the Jamarat and the Saee between Safa and Marwa were ordained only for the establishment of the remembrance of Allah."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: إنما جعل رمي الجمار والسعي بين الصفا والمروة لإقامة ذكر الله.
Reported by Abu Dawud (1888) and Tirmidhi (902), both from the hadith of Isa bin Yunus, from Ubaydullah bin Abu Ziyad, from Qasim bin Muhammad, from Ayesha, and he mentioned it. Tirmidhi said, "A hasan sahih hadith."I say, its chain is hasan because of the discussion surrounding Ubaydullah bin Abu Ziyad. Ibn Main's opinion of him varied, at one time saying, "Daif," and at another, "There is no harm in him." Likewise Nasai, who said at one time, "He is not strong," and at another, "There is no harm in him." Abu Hatim said, "He is not strong, nor solid, he is sound in hadith and his hadith is recorded, though Muhammad bin Amr is more beloved to me than him, and he should be moved out of the book of weak narrators" (meaning Bukhari's book of weak narrators).The conclusion regarding him, as Ibn Adi said, is that "the trustworthy narrators have transmitted from him, and I have not seen anything objectionable in his hadith." A narrator of this sort, his hadith is graded hasan so long as he does not contradict others and does not transmit anything that is deemed objectionable of him.
