Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came down from Safa and Marwa, he would walk, and when his feet reached the bottom of the valley, he would run until he came out of it.
أن رسول الله ﷺ كان إذا نزل من الصفا والمروة مشى، حتى إذا انصبت قدماه في بطن الوادي سعى حتى يخرج منه.
Malik narrated it in Hajj (131) from Jafar bin Muhammad, from his father, from Jabir, and mentioned it as above.Muslim narrated it in Hajj (1218) through several routes from Hatim bin Ismail, from Jafar bin Muhammad, from his father, from Jabir, who said, ". . . Then he went down to Marwa, and when his feet reached the bottom of the valley he ran, and when they went up he walked, until he came to Marwa." The hadith is part of the account of the Hajj of the Prophet ﷺ.
