When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed the first circumambulation of the Kabah, he would walk briskly for three circuits and walk normally for four. When he made the rounds between Safa and Marwa, he would jog through the bottom of the valley. Ibn Umar used to do the same.
أن رسول الله ﷺ كان إذا طاف بالبيت الطواف الأول خب ثلاثا ومشى أربعا، وكان يسعى ببطن المسيل إذا طاف بين الصفا والمروة. وكان ابن عمر يفعل ذلك.
Bukhari narrated it in the Hajj chapter (1617), and Muslim in the Hajj chapter (1261:230), both from the hadith of Ubaydullah bin Umar, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, who related it.His saying, "the bottom of the watercourse," refers to the place where the flood water collects, which is now known as the area between the two green markers.
