Abdullah bin Ahmad narrated it among his additions to the Musnad (597), from Abu Abdul-Rahman Abdullah bin Abu Ziyad Qatwani, who said, Zayd bin Hubab told us, Harb Abu Sufyan Minqari informed me, Muhammad bin Ali Abu Jafar told us, my uncle told me, from my father, that he saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he then related the hadith.Abu Bakr Bazzar also narrated it in Kashf Astar (1117), by way of Zayd bin Hubab, who said, Harb bin Siraj told us, from Muhammad bin Ali bin Husayn, from Ibn Hanafiya, from Ali, who said, and then related it.This chain of transmission makes clear that the uncle is Ibn Hanafiya, and the father is Ali bin Abu Talib. Its chain of transmission is hasan, because of what has been said about Harb Abu Sufyan, who is Ibn Siraj bin Mundhir Minqari, though his hadith is hasan when nothing objectionable appears in it, since he used to make many mistakes, as Ibn Hibban said.Bukhari said, "There is something questionable about him."But Ibn Main deemed him reliable.Imam Ahmad said, "There is no harm in him."Abu Walid Tayalisi said, "He was our neighbor. There was no harm in him, but I never heard anything from him."The meaning of his hadith is close to the hadith of Habiba bint Abu Tijra.
