The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Hell will be brought forth on that Day with seventy thousand reins, each rein held by seventy thousand angels dragging it along."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: يؤتى بجهنم يومئذ لها سبعون ألف زمام، مع كل زمام سبعون ألف ملك يجرونها.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Paradise (2842) from Umar bin Hafs bin Ghiyath, who said, my father narrated to us, from Ala bin Khalid Kahili, from Shaqiq, from Abdullah, and he related it.Tirmidhi also narrated it (2573) from his teacher Abdullah bin Abdul-Rahman, from Umar bin Hafs bin Ghiyath, with the same wording. He said, Abdullah (meaning his teacher) said, "Thawri does not raise it to the Prophet."I say, this is one of the hadiths that Daraqutni also flagged as a point of criticism against Muslim, saying, "Raising it to the Prophet is a mistake. Thawri, Marwan, and others narrated it from Ala bin Khalid as stopped at the companion level."Nawawi said, "Hafs is trustworthy, a hafiz, and an imam, so his addition is accepted, as has already been related from the majority and the verifying scholars."
