The Prophet ﷺ said, "The people of Paradise will enter Paradise, and the people of the Fire will enter the Fire. Then Allah the Exalted will say, 'Bring out of the Fire anyone who has in his heart the weight of a mustard seed of faith.' They will be brought out of it, blackened, and cast into the river of Haya, or the river of Life," (Malik was uncertain which) "and they will sprout as a seed sprouts on the bank of a flood stream. Have you not seen how it comes out yellow and curled?"
عن النبي ﷺ قال: يدخل أهل الجنة الجنة، وأهل النار النار، ثم يقول الله تعالى: أخرجوا من النار من كان في قلبه مثقال حبة من خردل من إيمان فيخرجون منها قد اسودوا، فيلقون في نهر الحيا أو الحياة- شك مالك- فينبتون كما تنبت الحبة في جانب السيل، ألم تر أنها تخرج صفراء ملتوية.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Faith (22) from Ismail, and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Faith (184) through the hadith of Ibn Wahb, both of them from Malik, from Amr bin Yahya bin Umara Mazani, who said, my father told me, from Abu Saeed Khudri, and he related the hadith, the wording given here being that of Bukhari.Muslim's wording is, "Allah will admit the people of Paradise into Paradise, admitting whomever He wills by His mercy, and He will admit the people of the Fire into the Fire. Then He will say, 'Look at whoever you find in whose heart there is faith weighing as much as a grain of mustard seed, and bring him out.' So they will be brought out of it charred and scorched." Then he related something similar.In another version it says, "just as fresh growth sprouts on the side of a flood channel."This hadith was not included by Yahya bin Yahya Laythi in his recension of Malik's Muwatta, nor was it mentioned by Jawhari in his Musnad Muwatta, even though he had compiled in it the narration of Abdullah bin Wahb. It therefore appears that this hadith lies outside the Muwatta.His word "scorched" means burned.
