Ayesha informed me that the first thing the Prophet ﷺ did when he arrived was to perform ablution, then circumambulate the Kaaba, and there was no umrah at that time. Then Abu Bakr and Umar
performed Hajj in the same manner. Then I performed Hajj with Abu Zubayr
, and the first thing he did was the circumambulation. I saw the Muhajirin and the Ansar doing the same. My mother informed me that she, her sister, Zubayr, and so-and-so and so-and-so entered the state of ihram for umrah, and once they touched the Corner, they exited the state of ihram.
Bukhari related it in Hajj (1614), and Muslim in Hajj (1235), both through Ibn Wahb, who said, Amr bin Harith informed me, from Muhammad Ibn Abdul-Rahman, who said, "I mentioned it to Urwa," and he said (so he related it), and the wording is Bukhari's.
