The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was prevented from completing his pilgrimage, so he shaved his head, was intimate with his wives, and slaughtered his sacrificial animal, until he performed Umrah the following year.
قد أحصر رسول الله ﷺ فحلق رأسه وجامع نساءه ونحر هديه حتى اعتمر عاما قابلا.
Bukhari narrated it in the chapter on the one prevented from completing the pilgrimage (1809), from Muhammad, who said, Yahya bin Salih told us, Muawiya bin Salam told us, Yahya bin Abu Kathir told us, from Ikrima, who said, Ibn Abbas said, and then he related it.There is disagreement about who Bukhari's teacher was here. Some said he was Muhammad bin Yahya Dhuhli, others said he was Muhammad bin Muslim bin Warah, and others said he was Muhammad bin Idris Razi. Hafiz leaned toward this last view and said, "It is also possible that he was Muhammad bin Ishaq Saghani, for I have found the hadith narrated by him from Yahya bin Salih." Fath al-Bari (7/4).
