Safiya bint Huyayy, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, reported that she came to visit the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was in spiritual retreat at the mosque during the last ten days of Ramadan. She spoke with him for a while, then stood up to leave. The Prophet ﷺ got up to walk her back. When she reached the gate of the mosque near the door of Umm Salama, two men from the Ansar passed by and greeted the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.The Prophet ﷺ said to them, "Take your time. This is Safiya bint Huyayy."They exclaimed, "Glory be to Allah, Messenger of Allah!" and they were greatly troubled by his remark.The Prophet ﷺ said, "Satan flows through the son of Adam as blood flows through his veins, and I feared he might cast something into your hearts."
أن صفية زوج النبي ﷺ أخبرته أنها جاءت إلى رسول الله ﷺ تزوره في اعتكافه في المسجد في العشر الأواخر من رمضان، فتحدثت عنده ساعة، ثم قامت تنقلب، فقام النبي ﷺ معها يقلبها، حتى إذا بلغت باب المسجد عند باب أم سلمة مر رجلان من الأنصار فسلما على رسول الله ﷺ، فقال لهما النبي ﷺ: على رسلكما، إنما هي صفية بنت حيي. قالا: سبحان الله يا رسول الله، وكبر عليهما، فقال النبي ﷺ: إن الشيطان يبلغ من ابن آدم مبلغ الدم، وإني خشيت أن يقذف في قلوبكما شيئا.
Bukhari narrated it in the chapter on itikaf (2035), and Muslim in the chapter on salam (2175:25), through the route of Abu Yaman, who said, Shuayb informed us, from Zuhri, who said, Ali bin Husayn informed me, and he related it.His saying, "at your leisure" (ala rislikuma) may be read with the ra either with fatha or with kasra. It is said that with kasra it means composure, and with fatha it means gentleness and ease. The meaning is close in both cases, and its root sense is a slow pace.
