The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, whenever he was in spiritual retreat, would bring his head close to me so I could comb it. He would not enter the house except for human necessity.
كان رسول الله ﷺ، إذا اعتكف يدني إلي رأسه فأرجله، وكان لا يدخل البيت إلا لحاجة الإنسان.
Malik narrated it in the chapter on itikaf (1) from Ibn Shihab Zuhri, from Urwa bin Zubayr, from Amra bint Abdul-Rahman, from Ayesha, and he mentioned it. Muslim also narrated it in the chapter on menstruation (297:6) through the route of Malik, with the same wording.Bukhari narrated it in the chapter on menstruation (295) through the route of Malik, in abridged form, with the wording, "I used to comb the hair of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while I was menstruating."
