The Prophet ﷺ said, "When a man prays with the imam until he finishes, it is recorded for him as having spent the night in prayer."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: إن الرجل إذا صلى مع الإمام حتى ينصرف حسب له قيام ليلة.
Abu Dawud (1375), Tirmidhi (806), Nasai (1364), and Ibn Majah (1327) all narrated it through Dawud bin Abu Hind, from Walid bin Abdul-Rahman Jurashi, from Jubayr bin Nufayr Hadrami, from Abu Dharr, in a long hadith. Its isnad is sahih, and it has already been referenced. On this subject there is also what was narrated from Anas, who said, the Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever prays Maghrib and Isha in congregation until the month of Ramadan ends has attained Laylat al-Qadr with a generous share." Bayhaqi narrated it in Fadail al-Awqat (116) from the hadith of Yahya bin Uqba, from Muhammad bin Jahada, from Anas, and mentioned it.Yahya bin Uqba is Ibn Abu Aizar, who is very daif. Ibn Hibban said in Majruhin (1203), "He was among those who narrate fabricated reports from reliable people, and he attaches fabricated texts to sahih chains. It is not permissible to rely on him under any circumstances." Ibn Main, Abu Hatim, and Nasai also declared him daif.On this subject there is also what was narrated from Abu Hurairah, from the Prophet ﷺ, who said, "Whoever prays the final night prayer in congregation during Ramadan has attained Laylat al-Qadr." Ibn Khuzayma (2195) and Bayhaqi in Fadail al-Awqat (117) both narrated it from the hadith of Uqba bin Abu Hasana, from Abu Hurairah, and mentioned it.Uqba bin Abu Hasana is majhul, as Ibn Madini, Abu Hatim, Dhahabi, and others have said. However, Ibn Hibban mentioned him in Thiqat, following his own methodology and that of his teacher Ibn Khuzayma. It is permissible for an imam who does not memorize the Quran by heart to recite from the mus-haf, since there is no evidence in the Book or the sunnah that forbids this. Ayesha's slave Zakwan used to lead her in prayer while reading from the mus-haf. Bukhari mentioned this in the Book of Adhan, chapter 54.Collected chapters on what has been reported concerning the virtue of Laylat al-Qadr and the Prophet's ﷺ ﷺ diligence in it.1 - Chapter on the virtue of standing in prayer during Laylat al-Qadr.Allah the Almighty said, "Indeed, We sent it down during Laylat al-Qadr. And what can make you know what Laylat al-Qadr is? Laylat al-Qadr is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit descend therein by the permission of their Lord for every matter. It is peace until the emergence of dawn." [Qadr 97:1–5]Malik narrated in itikaf (15) that he heard someone he trusted among the people of knowledge say, "The Messenger of Allah was shown the lifespans of the peoples before him, or whatever Allah willed of that, so it seemed to him that the lifespans of his ummah were too short for them to attain through deeds what others had attained through long lifespans. So Allah gave him Laylat al-Qadr, which is better than a thousand months."This hadith is one of the reports transmitted without a connected chain, one that has not come connected through any route whatsoever, as Hafiz bin Abdul-Barr stated in Tamhid (24/373). This meaning also appears in reports from some of the Tabiin, which Hafiz Suyuti cited in Durr al-Manthur (15/535) and the pages that follow.
