Tirmidhi (747), Ibn Majah (1740), and Imam Ahmad (8361) all narrated it through the hadith of Muhammad bin Rifa, from Suhayl bin Abu Salih, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, who mentioned it.The other two added, "So Allah forgives every Muslim, or every believer, except those who have severed relations with each other, and He says, 'Postpone these two.'"This is the wording in the Musnad, while the wording in Ibn Majah is, "Leave these two until they reconcile."Muhammad bin Rifa is the son of Thalaba Qurazi. Hafiz said of him, "Acceptable." And that is indeed the case, for he was corroborated, except that he added mention of fasting, and it may be for that reason that Tirmidhi found it rare, saying, "hasan, rare." But he was not mistaken, since there are sahih corroborating reports as mentioned earlier. Perhaps others abridged it, or the mention of fasting did not reach them through a sahih chain.Malik narrated it in Husn al-Khuluq (17), and through his route Muslim narrated it in al-Birr wal-Silah (2565), from Suhayl, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, that the Prophet ﷺ said, "The gates of Paradise are opened on Monday and Thursday, and every servant who does not associate anything with Allah is forgiven, except a man between whom and his brother there is enmity. Then it is said, 'Wait for these two until they reconcile, wait for these two until they reconcile, wait for these two until they reconcile.'" Except that he did not mention in it the fasting of the Prophet ﷺ.Malik also narrated it (18), and through his route Muslim (2565), from Muslim bin Abu Maryam, from Abu Salih Samman, from Abu Hurairah, attributing it to the Prophet on one occasion, saying, "Deeds are presented every Thursday and Monday, and Allah forgives on that day every person who does not associate anything with Allah, except a person between whom and his brother there is enmity. Then it is said, 'Leave these two until they reconcile, leave these two until they reconcile.'"Sufyan likewise also narrated it, from Muslim bin Abu Maryam.
