Bilal used to give the call to prayer at night, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Eat and drink until Ibn Umm Maktum gives the call, for he does not call until dawn breaks."Qasim said, "There was nothing between their two calls except that one would descend and the other would ascend."
أن بلالا كان يؤذن بليل، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: كلوا واشربوا حتى يؤذن ابن أم مكتوم، فإنه لا يؤذن حتى يطلع الفجر. قال القاسم: ولم يكن بين أذانهما إلا أن يرقى ذا وينزل ذا.
Bukhari related it in the Fasting chapter (1918, 1919) from Ubayd bin Ismail, from Abu Usama, from Ubaydullah, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, and from Qasim bin Muhammad, from Ayesha, and he narrated it accordingly.Muslim related it in the Fasting chapter (38/1092) from Ubaydullah, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar alone. He then related it from Ubaydullah, Qasim narrated to us, from Ayesha, from the Prophet ﷺ, with the same wording, but he did not give the full text.
