A lizard was presented as a gift to the Prophet ﷺ, but he did not eat it.Ayesha said, "Messenger of Allah, shall we not feed it to the poor?"He replied, "Do not feed them what you yourselves will not eat."
أهدي إلى النبي ﷺ ضب، فلم يأكله. قالت عائشة: يا رسول الله، ألا نطعمه المساكين؟ قال: لا تطعموهم ما لا تأكلون.
Ahmad (24917) and Tabarani in Al-Awsat (Majma Bahrayn, 1409) both narrated it from the hadith of Affan bin Muslim, who said, Hammad bin Salama told us, Hammad bin Abu Sulayman told us, from Ibrahim, from Aswad, from Ayesha, and he related it.Tabarani said, "No one narrated it from Hammad bin Abu Sulayman except Ibn Salama and Thawri."I say, its isnad is hasan because of Hammad bin Abu Sulayman, for there is disagreement about him, though he is fine for this hadith. Haythami mentioned it in Al-Majma (3/113) and said, "Its narrators are considered reliable."
