Anas bin Malik reported,

Anas reported that Abu Bakr wrote this letter for him when he dispatched him to Bahrain.In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. This is the obligation of zakat which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made obligatory upon the Muslims, and which Allah commanded His Messenger to impose. Whoever among the Muslims is asked for it in the proper manner should give it, and whoever is asked for more than that should not give it.It also stated, regarding the zakat on freely grazing sheep, when they number from forty to one hundred and twenty, one sheep is due. When they exceed one hundred and twenty up to two hundred, two sheep are due. When they exceed two hundred up to three hundred, three sheep are due. When they exceed three hundred, then for every hundred, one sheep is due. If a man's grazing flock falls short of forty by even one sheep, no zakat is due on them, unless the owner wishes to give it.Concerning silver, one fortieth is due. If it amounts only to one hundred and ninety, nothing is due on it, unless the owner wishes to give something.

عن أنس بن مالك

أن أبا بكر رضي الله عنه كتب له هذا الكتاب لما وجهه إلى البحرين: بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم هذه فريضة الصدقة التي فرض رسول الله ﷺ على المسلمين والتي أمر الله بها رسوله فمن سئلها من المسلمين على وجهها فليعطها ومن سئل فوقها فلا يعط… وجاء فيه: وفي صدقة الغنم في سائمتها إذا كانت أربعين إلى عشرين ومائة شاة، فإذا زادت على عشرين ومائة إلى مائتين شاتان، فإذازادت على مائتين إلى ثلاث مائة ففيها ثلاث شياء، فإذا زادت على ثلاث مائة ففي كل مائة شاة، فإذا كانت سائمة الرجل ناقصة من أربعين شاة واحدة فليس فيها صدقة إلا أن يشاء ربها وفي الرقة ربع العشر، فإن لم تكن إلا تسعين ومائة فليس فيها شيء إلا أن يشاء ربها.
