The Prophet ﷺ said to them in the year of Muraysi, when they accepted Islam, "Part of completing your Islam is that you pay the zakat on your wealth."
أن النبي ﷺ قال لهم عام المريسع حين أسلموا: إن من تمام إسلامكم أن تؤدوا زكاة أموالكم.

Tabarani reported it in al-Kabir (8/18), and Bazzar in Kashf Astar (876), and Ibn Abu Asim in al-Ahad wal-Mathani (2334), from the hadith of Yaqub bin Humayd, who said, Isa bin Hadrami bin Kulthum bin Alqama bin Najiya bin Harith Khuzai told us, from his grandfather Kulthum, from his father, and he related it. Except that Bazzar did not name his shaykh, saying instead, one of our companions told us, from Isa bin Hadrami bin Kulthum, from Alqama bin Najiya Khuzai, from his grandfather, from his father Alqama, and he related it, and he said, "We do not know of Alqama narrating anything except this." Ibn Abdul-Barr said in al-Istiab (1863), "Alqama bin Najiya has one hadith, which is transmitted through his son."Its chain is hasan, because of the discussion surrounding Yaqub bin Humayd bin Kasib Madani. Bukhari said, "He has always been good, he is basically truthful (sadooq)." Others spoke critically of him. However, his hadith is hasan when nothing unusual appears in it, because he narrated a great deal and had many unusual reports, as Ibn Adi said.On this subject there is also what is reported from Abu Darda, that the Prophet ﷺ said, "Sincerely devote your worship to your Lord, perform your five prayers, pay the zakat on your wealth, fast your month, and perform hajj to the House of your Lord, and you will enter the Paradise of your Lord." This is daif. Tabarani reported it in Musnad Shamiyin (659), from Ahmad bin Masud Maqdisi, who said, Amr bin Abu Salama told us, who said, Sadaqa bin Abdullah told us, from Wadeen bin Ata, from Yazid bin Marthad, from Abu Darda, that a man came to the Messenger of Allah and said, "O Messenger of Allah, what is the safeguard of this matter, its handhold and its bond?" He said, he then interlocked his fingers of his right hand and said (and he related it). Abu Naeem also reported it from him in al-Hilya (166/5) and said, "This is unusual (gharib) as a hadith of Yazid, transmitted solely by Wadeen from him."I say, its chain is daif because of Sadaqa bin Abdullah, who is Abu Muawiya Dimashqi, whom Nasai and others judged daif. In al-Taqrib it says, "Daif." As for Wadeen, who alone transmitted it, he is Wadeen bin Ata bin Kinana Khuzai Dimashqi, about whom there is disagreement, Ahmad and Ibn Main judged him reliable, while Ibn Saad and Juzjani judged him daif. Ibn Adi said, "I see no harm in his hadiths."As for what is reported from Fatimah bint Qays, that she said, I asked, or the Prophet ﷺ was asked, about zakat, and he said, "Indeed in wealth there is a due besides zakat." Then he recited this verse from Surah Baqarah, "It is not righteousness that you turn your faces..." [Baqarah 2:177] this is daif. Tirmidhi reported it (659, 660) through two routes from Sharik, from Abu Hamza, from Amir Shaybi, from Fatimah bint Qays, and he related it.Tirmidhi said, "This is a hadith whose chain is not strong, and Abu Hamza Maymun Awar is judged daif. Bayan and Ismail bin Salim reported this hadith from Shaybi as his own statement, and this is more sahih." End of quote. Also in the chain is Sharik, who is Abdullah Nakhai, whose memory was poor. Nawawi said in al-Khulasa (3837), "This is a munkar hadith."As for the hadith of Bayan that Tirmidhi pointed to, Ibn Abu Shayba reported it in al-Musannaf (191/3) from Ibn Fudayl, from Bayan, from Amir, who said, "In wealth there is a due besides zakat."This hadith was inverted by some narrators, who reported it with the wording, "There is no due in wealth besides zakat." This is how Ibn Majah reported it (1789) through the route of Yahya bin Adam, from Sharik, with his chain.Bayhaqi said (84/4), after mentioning the first wording of the hadith, "This hadith is known through Abu Hamza Maymun Awar, a Kufan, whom Ahmad bin Hanbal and Yahya bin Main, and those who came after them among the memorizers of hadith, criticized. As for what our companions report in their notebooks, 'There is no due in wealth besides zakat,' I do not recall a chain for it." End of quote.
