The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Every deceased person has their deeds sealed off except for the one stationed at the frontier, for his deeds continue to grow until the Day of Resurrection, and he is protected from the trial of the grave."
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: كل الميت يحتم على عمله إلا المرابط، فإنه ينمو له عمله إلى يوم القيامة، ويؤمن من فتان القبر.
Abu Dawud (2500) and Tirmidhi (1621) both narrated it, via the route of Abu Hani Khawlani, from Amr bin Malik, from Fadala bin Ubayd, who related it. The wording given here is that of Abu Dawud, and Tirmidhi's wording is close to it. He said, "Hasan sahih."Ibn Hibban also narrated it by this same route in his Sahih (4624), as did Hakim (2/79), who said, "Sahih according to the criterion of Muslim." I say, its chain of transmission is sahih, but it is not according to the criterion of Muslim, for Amr bin Malik, who is Hamdani Abu Ali Junbi, was not narrated from by Muslim. Rather, he was narrated from by the compilers of the Sunan works.
