Imam Ahmad narrated it (17371), and Tabarani in Al-Kabir (17/no. 853), both through the route of Qutayba bin Saeed, who said, "Ibn Lahia narrated to us, from Abu Ushana, from Uqba bin Amir," and he related it. Ibn Abu Asim also narrated it in Al-Sunnah (571), as did Abu Yaala (1749), and Bayhaqi in Al-Sifat (993), all of them through other routes from Ibn Lahia with his chain, in similar wording.Abu Ushana's name was Hayy bin Yuumin, and he is trustworthy. As for Qutayba bin Saeed, it is said that he wrote down the hadiths of Ibn Lahia from the book of Abdullah bin Wahb, and that this was before Ibn Lahia's mind became confused and his books were burned. For this reason, some scholars graded this route hasan, among them those who heard it directly, Haythami in Al-Majma (1/270). The other routes strengthen what Qutayba bin Saeed narrated. It has also been related as a stopped report (mawquf), and its chain contains a daif narrator.As for his saying, "He has no youthful folly", it means an inclination toward vain desire.
