I washed the Prophet ﷺ, and I looked carefully to see if anything would come from the deceased as happens with others, but I saw nothing. He was pure ﷺ, in life and in death.Four people, and no others, took charge of his burial and laying him to rest, Ali, Abbas, Fadl, and Salih the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. A side niche was dug for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and mud bricks were set up over him.
Hakim (1/362) narrated it, and from him Bayhaqi (3/388), via Musaddad, who said, Abdul-Wahid bin Ziyad narrated to us, Maamar narrated to us, from Zuhri, from Saeed bin Musayab, who said, Ali bin Abu Talib said, and then he mentioned it.Ibn Majah (1467) narrated it from Yahya bin Khudham, who said, Safwan bin Isa narrated to us, who said, Maamar informed us with his chain, in abbreviated form. Ibn Majah's teacher Yahya bin Khudham is "acceptable" because he has corroboration.Hakim said, "This is a sahih hadith meeting the criteria of the two Shaykhs." Dhahabi followed up on this, saying, "It contains a break in the chain."I say, if he means by this a break between Saeed bin Musayab and Ali, then this requires scrutiny, because Saeed bin Musayab was born two years into the caliphate of Umar, that is, in the year fourteen or fifteen, and his hearing from Uthman has been established, while what is disputed is only his hearing from Umar. So how could his hearing from Ali bin Abu Talib not be valid, especially since I have not found anyone who explicitly stated that he did not hear from him.
