Ali bin Abu Talib said to me, "Shall I not send you on the same mission the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me on, that you leave no statue without obliterating it, and no raised grave without leveling it?"In another narration, "And no image without effacing it."
قال لي علي بن أبي طالب: ألا أبعثك على ما بعثني عليه رسول الله ﷺ، أن لا تدع تمثالا إلا طمسته، ولا قبرا مشرفا إلا سويته. وفي رواية: ولا صورة إلا طمستها.
Muslim narrated it in the chapter on funerals (969) through several routes from Waki, from Sufyan, from Habib bin Abu Thabit, from Abu Waail, from Abu Hayyaj, as mentioned. The second narration was reported through the route of Yahya (that is, Qattan), from Sufyan with his chain of transmission.
