Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Funerals (1339), and Muslim in the Book of Virtues (2373), both from the hadith of Abdul-Razzaq, who said, Mamar told us, from Ibn Tawus, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, and he mentioned it. Neither of them mentioned in it the attribution up to the Prophet ﷺ, but Bukhari related it in the chapters on the Prophets from this same route and then said, "And from Mamar, from Hammam bin Munabbih, from Abu Hurairah, from the Prophet ﷺ," and Muslim related it likewise.The scholars differed regarding transferring the deceased from one place to another. Shafii recommended it if the transfer was to a superior land such as Makkah or elsewhere, and disliked it if the purpose was not burial in such superior places. It is reported that Saad bin Abu Waqqas and Saeed bin Zayd bin Amr bin Nufayl died at Aqiq and were carried to Madinah and buried there. Usama bin Zayd was carried from Juruf, and Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Bakr was carried from Habashi, one of the mountains of Makkah at a distance of six miles, to Makkah and buried there. The dead of Uhud were carried to be buried at Baqi, but a caller called out, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commands you to bury the slain where they fell." Jabir said, "So we brought them back."However, if this results in delaying their burial and exposing them to the violation of their sanctity, then it becomes forbidden, or disliked.
