She said, the Prophet ﷺ told me, "No deceased person is prayed over by a community of people except that their intercession is accepted for him."I asked Abu Malih about what constitutes a community, and he said, "Forty."In another narration, "A community is from forty to one hundred."
Nasai narrated it (1993) from Ishaq bin Ibrahim, who said, Muhammad bin Sawa Abu Khattab informed us, who said, Abu Bakkar Hakam bin Faruq narrated to us, saying, Abu Malih led us in prayer over a funeral, and we thought he had already said the takbir, but he turned his face to us and said, "Straighten your rows, and let your intercession be good."Abu Malih said, Abdullah, who is Ibn Sulayt, narrated to me, from one of the Mothers of the Believers, namely Maymuna, and he related the hadith. The second narration is found in Imam Ahmad (26812) from Yahya bin Saeed, from Abu Bakkar, except that he said in its isnad, "Abdullah bin Sulayl." But he also narrated it from Abu Ubayda Haddad, who said, "Abdullah bin Sulayt narrated to me." This supports what Abu Khattab Muhammad bin Sawa said.Hafiz and others have concluded that he is Abdullah bin Sulayt, who is among those Ibn Hibban mentioned among the companions, and then again among the successors, saying, "He has companionship, as they claim." See Isabah (2/321–322).If what Ibn Hibban mentioned about his having companionship is correct, then the isnad is hasan because of Muhammad bin Sawa Abu Khattab, for he is "truthful" (saduq). The hadith has other chains of transmission besides this one, but what I have mentioned here is the most sahih of them.
