He passed by Abu Hurairah while he was narrating from the Prophet ﷺ that he said, "Whoever follows a funeral procession and prays over it receives one qirat of reward, and whoever attends the burial as well receives two qirats. The qirat is greater than Mount Uhud."Ibn Umar said to him, "Abu Hurairah, be careful what you narrate from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ!"So Abu Hurairah got up and took him to Ayesha and said to her, "Umm Muiminin, I ask you by Allah, did you hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever follows a funeral procession and prays over it receives one qirat, and whoever attends the burial as well receives two qirats'?"She replied, "By Allah, yes."Abu Hurairah then said, "Nothing kept me away from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, not the planting of date palms nor trading in the markets. I used to stay close to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ only seeking a word he would teach me or a meal he would feed me."Ibn Umar said to him, "Abu Hurairah, you were indeed the most attached of us to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the most knowledgeable of us regarding his hadith."
Imam Ahmad narrated it (4453) from Hushaym, from Yaala bin Ata, from Walid bin Abdul-Rahman Jurashi, from Ibn Umar, who related it. Hushaym stated it explicitly in the narration of Abdul-Razzaq (6270). Hakim also narrated it (3/510-511) through this same route and graded it sahih.
