Saad bin Abu Waqqas reported,

He was sitting with Abdullah bin Umar when Khabab, the keeper of the enclosure, came in and said, "Abdullah bin Umar, have you not heard what Abu Hurairah is saying? He heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever goes out with a funeral from the house of the deceased, prays over it, and then follows it until it is buried, will have two qirats of reward, each qirat like Mount Uhud. And whoever prays over it and then returns will have a reward like Mount Uhud.'"Ibn Umar sent Khabab to Ayesha to ask her about what Abu Hurairah had said and to come back and report her answer. While waiting, Ibn Umar took a handful of pebbles from the mosque and turned them over in his hand until the messenger returned to him and said, "Ayesha said, 'Abu Hurairah has spoken the truth.'"At that, Ibn Umar threw the pebbles he was holding to the ground and said, "We have indeed missed out on many qirats."

عن سعد بن أبي وقاص

أنه كان قاعدا عند عبد الله بن عمر، إذ طلع خباب صاحب المقصورة، فقال: يا عبد الله بن عمر، ألا تسمع ما يقول أبو هريرة، إنه سمع رسول الله ﷺ يقول: من خرج مع جنازة من بيتها وصلى عليها، ثم تبعها حتى تدفن كان له قيراطان من الأجر، كل قيراط مثل أحد، ومن صلى عليها ثم رجع كان له من الأجر مثل أحد فأرسل ابن عمر خبابا إلى عائشة يسألها عن قول أبي هريرة، ثم يرجع إليه فيخبره ما قالت، وأخذ ابن عمر قبضة من حصباء المسجد يقلبها في يده، حتى رجع إليه الرسول فقال: قالت عائشة: صدق أبو هريرة، فضرب ابن عمر بالحصى الذي كان في يده الأرض ثم قال: لقد فرطنا في قراريط كثيرة.
