He used to relate that a funeral procession passed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said, "One who finds rest, and one from whom others find rest."They asked, "Messenger of Allah, who is the one who finds rest and the one from whom others find rest?"He replied, "The believing servant finds rest from the toils and troubles of this world into the mercy of Allah, and as for the wicked servant, the people, the land, the trees, and the animals all find rest from him."
أنه كان يحدث أن رسول الله ﷺ مر عليه بجنازة فقال: مستريح ومستراح منه قالوا: يا رسول الله ما المستريح والمستراح منه؟ قال: العبد المؤمن يستريح من نصب الدنيا وأذاها إلى رحمة الله والعبد الفاجر يستريح منه العباد والبلاد والشجر والدواب.
Malik narrated it in Janaiz (54), from Muhammad bin Amr bin Halhala Dayli, from Mabad bin Kaab bin Malik, from Abu Qatada bin Rabi, who related it.Bukhari narrated it in Riqaq (6512), from Ismail, and Muslim narrated it in Janaiz (950), from Qutayba bin Saeed, both of them from Malik, with the same wording.
