We attended the funeral of one of the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ daughters. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sitting beside the grave, and I saw his eyes filling with tears.He asked, "Is there a man among you who did not have intercourse last night?"Abu Talha said, "I did not."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Then go down."So Abu Talha descended into her grave.
شهدنا بنتا لرسول الله ﷺ، قال: ورسول الله ﷺ جالس على القبر، قال: فرأيت عينيه تدمعان، قال: فقال: هل منكم رجل لم يقارف الليلة؟ فقال أبو طلحة: أنا، قال: فانزل، قال: فنزل في قبرها.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Funerals (1285), from Abdullah bin Muhammad, he said, Abu Amir narrated to us, he said, Fulayh bin Sulayman narrated to us, from Hilal bin Ali, from Anas bin Malik, and he related the hadith.His words, "lam yuqarif," are spelled with qaf and fa. Ibn Mubarak added, from Fulayh, "I think he means the sin." Bukhari mentioned this as a suspended narration in the chapter, "Who enters the grave of a woman."It has been said that its meaning is, "He did not have intercourse with her that night," a view that Hafiz and others preferred.Note, in Fath al-Bari, Hilal bin Ali was corrupted to "Bilal bin Ali."
